Test of padel balls
To find the best padel ball on the market we set out to test all the premium ones. Brands we tested was Head Pro S, Head Pro, Wilson X3 Speed, Wilson X3, RS Champions choice, RS Padel Tour X and BIRD PRO S that we’re in the developing process of.
Our choice of preference has always been the Head Pro S since it’s currently the ball being used on World Padel Tour and we like its balance between speed, feel and control.
Categories for the test
SIZE, WEIGHT, BOUNCE, CONTROL and PREMIUM FEEL.
SIZE

We measured the perimeter and as you can see it’s a big difference in size between different brands.
WEIGHT

After weighing every ball in each tube the average weight shows that Head Pro is the heaviest ball and the RS balls are the lightest.
BOUNCE

When dropped from the same height on a padel course. The ball with most bounce is the Wilson X3 Speed, followed by RS Champions choice.
CONTROL

This is subjectively how we felt about playing with the different balls but it’s clear that too much speed is not good for maximum control. Worth mentioning is that even if the RS Padel Tour X is not a ball with speed we felt that it had not very good control either.
PREMIUM FEEL

HEAD, WILSON and our own BIRD test balls scored highest on overall premium feel.
SUMMARY
Our goal from the beginning was to develop a padel ball with the control and feel as the HEAD PRO S but after this test we feel that we need to make some adjustments.
We really appreciate the lighter and quicker balls that WILSON has to offer but would like to combine their performance with the control from HEAD.
Therefore, you will soon see a new test from us where we will have a HEAD PRO S ball with more speed like the WILSON but maintained control.
